As a big fan of David Tennant, I had to sit down and watch Broadchurch. I am a fan of crime dramas, such as NCIS and Law and Order, this show can get very serious at times, that’s a good thing. If you were a fan of Desperate Housewives this might also be right up your alley.
The town of Dorset, a small coastal town, is rocked with grief at the sudden and mysterious death of an 11 year old boy. The partners try to discreetly pull back the curtain on the quiet town which, as always, things are more than they seem.
Unlike the american counterparts, British television is stretched out. Like chapters, but in a movie, broken apart for television. It’s paced, but not slow, and the writing is delicious. David Tennant himself is very serious, unlike what many are used to of his more familiar roles, he has depth what an actor. Olivia Coleman does a splendid job, and can easily carry herself alongside Tennant. I like what she brings to her character, and how her character is rooted in the town, she has an understanding of the people and their way of like that Tennant’s character is still learning as he just moved to town for the job (her job).
