A love letter to the ’80s classics that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is set in 1983 Indiana, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.
Oh boy, this show is really good. This is another gem from the Netflix Original line up. I will admit, horror isn’t really my cup of tea. I’m not interested in things that go bump in the night, I scare easily. Stranger Things though, has some crazy creative and fantastic writers, the music is great too!
All the actors do a brilliant job! The show focuses on a group of best friends (kids) and they are seriously skilled, and their adorability and lovable personalities gets you emotionally invested in them making it out of these alive, together. The show keeps to it’s era, with references accurate for its times, in an attempt to be genre-less. The show has an over tone of darkness, the 80’s feel with the soundtrack is reminiscent to a clash of the Goonies meets E.T. The kids all play D&D which only adds to the creepiness as some moments are actualized from fantasy to the real world.
To be completely honest, I haven’t completed season one. I have been savoring each episode, drawing it out in the hopes of season two and it was approved! I can finally finish now that I know there will be more to come. I rated this 5 out of 5 gems (stars), this is an immensely great show, pace is good and the writing is imaginative.
